Timetable
The following timetable was proposed August 9, 2012:
August 2012
a. Form the 2020 Coordinating Team (CT) which will develop the University's aspiration statement that describes the desired Miami in the context of 2020, review the target goals, and coordinate all planning activities.
b. Appoint five CT members to serve as chair of each target goal team (TGT). These five chairs will also serve as members of the executive committee of the coordinating team.
c. Five TGTs will be formed with four CT members and six additional members selected from different units and offices.
d. Each TGT will develop the aspiration statement associated with the target goal, identify 3–5 major objectives specific to each target goals, and propose the University-level action plan and timetable.
e. The process of developing the MU 2020 Plan will be discussed during the August meeting of the Academic Administrators.
September–October 2012
a. President Hodge will discuss the formal process in his annual address, September 6, 2012.
b. MU 2020 Plan website will be launched in early September to communicate the process, plans, ongoing activities of the various teams, and calendar of meetings and solicit feedback from the campus community.
c. The MU 2020 Plan CT and TGTs will hold open forums and discuss the University's aspiration statement, target goals, specific objectives, metrics, and timetable.
November–December 2012
a. The TGT teams will finalize drafts of the aspiration statements, target goals and specific objectives, and action plans and timetables.
b. The TGT teams will present drafts to the CT, COAD, and PEC by December 1, 2012.
January–February 2013
The CT will review and integrate the TGT drafts into the draft of the MU 2020 Plan. The draft plan will be presented to the University community and the Board of Trustees at the February 8, 2013 BOT meeting.
February–April 2013
a. February–March. The draft MU 2020 Plan will be vetted with the university community.
b. VPs and Division Deans will assess current status of target goals and objectives with respect to their specific activities, prepare academic division and VP level specific action plans, define benchmarks and provide a plan to measure progress.
c. On April 26, 2013, the Board of Trustees reviews and acts on the Miami University 2020 Plan.
d. Deans and VPs submit division-level implementation and assessment plans. The President and Provost review VPs' and Division Deans' action plans.
May 2013
Deans and VPs work with departments, programs, and offices to develop unit-specific metrics, implementation plans, and assessment procedures.
September–October 2013
a. All academic and administrative units will submit a specific action plan and timetable to their respective vice presidents and division deans detailing how they will contribute to the overall University goals and objectives. These plans are due by October 15 and are to be submitted to their respective divisional dean or VP and to the Provost and President for approval by November 1.
October 15, 2013
Deans, VPs, Department Chairs, Program Directors, and Unit Heads submit division and unit-specific metrics, implementation, and assessment plans.
November 1, 2013
VPs, Provost, and President review and approve unit-specific plans.
November 2013
Start full implementation of MU 2020 plan.
May 2014
Deans and VPs—Initial outcomes assessment, revisions and updates to implementation plans.
Beyond
Continue implementation of MU 2020 plan, assess progress and outcomes , and include in annual unit reports.
