... e-Round the World
Volume X, No. 1
Thirty-six Years and
Clearly, it's unstoppable!
Reunion 2010 and Western women proved to be "masters of the situation
anywhere." Western Drive was mostly shut down for repairs -- our shuttle
drivers cheerfully detoured. Rain fell, threatening to halt our parade -- we
marched indoors, banners held high, the long corridor of Lower PH. Unable to
gather for an All-Reunion photo on the Peabody porch steps, we assembled on the
stage risers in Leonard Theatre to smile
for the cameras. Sheet music for "Western Blue," the Alumnae
Choir's Sunday anthem, printed in the wrong key? No problem -- new music was
found and distributed before any voices were strained. In 1974, our new Board of
Trustees was advised to rent an office in Hamilton, hire a secretary and expect
to "hold the group together for a few years." Thirty-six years later,
the beat still goes on!
$120,000 and Counting
Thatís 30% of our $400,000
goal to create a Western College Professorship in tribute to our Western
faculty! Last year's Reunion Gift, honoring our 35-year anniversary, kicked off
the campaign, this year we added to it, and the beat goes on. We continue to
look for even more support from our loyal past donors and inspired first-time
donors. Please add
your gift today!
Heads Up, Eyes Forward!
Some things change: Rita Greene
'73 will take the reins from Barbara Williamson Wentz '68 as Reunion Chair.
There will be a "Cabaret, Western Style" on Friday eve. Much remains
the same: All Westerners, All classes are urged to come back to campus for an
All-out great time at Reunion 2011, June 17-19. The anniversary classes are
years ending in "1" and ď6"; special honoree, the 50-year Class
of '61 will be inducted into the Meily Society.
