ON THE RECORD

Sally with new grandson Zachary

The latest book by prolific children's author Sally Derby Miller '56 (nom de plume, Sally Derby) is due out from Cavendish in the fall of 2006, titled Whoosh. A year ago, her eighth -- The Wacky Substitute -- was published with the promise that alumnae from her era would "recognize a familiar Western name." [Hint: Think "librarian."] Currently, Sally is working on middle grade novels and hopes to have one under contract soon. Follow her progress on http://www.sallyderby.com.

In his "down time," Greg is a long distance runner. Here, he accepts an award from his running club.

Greg McGill '96, until recently, was AD (that's Artistic, not Athletic) Director, of MadLab Theatre, a nonprofit alternative arts organization, in Columbus, Ohio. Now he's "just" Programming Director and writes the newsletter. In his published swan song, he admits to being proud that during his tenure, "MadLab's Ensemble, Skills, Audience and Public Image/Profile greatly increased," though he insists on sharing the credit with at least 30 other people. Recently Greg wrote and directed CHT RM WTH GD ("Chat Room With God"), pictured below. His short description: "God is online and ready to speak with you! But first, it's up to you to hire his translator." This month MadLab is producing the second annual Columbus Fringe Festival, which gathers visual artists, musicians, actors, playwrights, dancers, improvisational artists, performance artists, burlesque performers -- and more -- and presents them in a variety of venues around the city.
