Western
alumnae and friends had a grand time capping off the 35th Anniversary Year Celebration!
From Tuffy's toasted rolls in the Lodge on
Friday to peppercorn poached salmon in
Alex on Sunday,
everyone enjoyed great food while
sharing remember
when
stories. They learned about Western College
during Leila McKee's tenure (when
studies in
"elocution"
were actually a vehicle for giving women their
voice).
They were
treated to a first at chapel
-- an organ-piano duet with Eleanore Vail and
Frank Jordan -- and closed with a
beautiful choir rendition of
"Western Blue."
All left with a Western glow...

REUNION GIFT |
In
tribute to our Western faculty, the 2010
Reunion Gift will go toward the Western
College Professorship for outstanding faculty
working in the areas of women's history and/or
public history and/or the history of social
justice. This endowed fund has a goal of
$400,000. To reach this ambitious goal,
Reunion Gifts will continue to go toward this
Professorship until the WCAA celebrates its
40th Anniversary in 2014, when we will
officially present it to the university.

The 37th annual
reunion will take place on the BEAUTIFUL
Western campus June 17-19. As always,
there will be sumptuous meals, beds in
air-conditioned Peabody, many fun events
(including a "Cabaret -- Western
Style" headed up by Debbie McDuffie '71 ...
let us
know if you are interested in performing)
and, the BEST part -- time to be together with
other Westerners, sharing memories and lots of
laughter!
