PHY 427/527 Nano-scale Science and Technology (3)

Designed for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in physics, chemistry, and engineering. Explains the scientific principles and the technological advantages that make nanoscience and technology qualitatively and quantitatively different from the large scale. Covers the enabling tools, the techniques, and the nano-materials that are involved in nanotechnology. Also, covers the potential impact of nanotechnology in human health, energy, manufacturing, and other aspects of life of a modern society. a weekly lab meeting gives hands-on experimental work to fabricate micro-structures in a Cleanroom facility.

Prerequisite: PHY 172 or 182. Recommended prerequisites: PHY 281 and 293.
