Current Student Admission

Current Miami students on the Oxford campus and who would like to join the University Honors Program (UHP) have the opportunity to apply during their first year. The UHP will accept applications from first-year students during the fall semester. The application process is both competitive and comprehensive. The number of students admitted will vary depending on available program resources.

Honors Current Student Application Process

The Honors application process for current students consists of three phases:

  1. The Honors Admission Workshop: All students interested in applying to the UHP as a current Miami student are required to attend an Honors admission workshop. Workshops will be held in 304 Harrison Hall from 6-7 p.m. on the following dates:
    • Monday, October 2, 2017
    • Tuesday, October 10, 2017
    • Thursday, October 26, 2017
    • Wednesday, November 1, 2017
  2. The Honors Application: Once students complete the Honors Application Workshop, they are eligible to apply. The UHP will provide access to the Honors application after attending the workshop. Application review is holistic, including students' academic credentials as well as students' responses to prompts that will be provided in the application.
  3. Current Student Orientation Session: Students whose applications are selected will be invited to participate in a Current Student Orientation Session. Attendance is a required part of Honors admission. Students will start in the program the semester that they are admitted.

Honors Requirements for Current Student Admits

In addition to all coursework required of all Miami students (i.e., major, divisional, and Miami Plan required coursework), current Miami students who are admitted to the UHP must also complete at least six Honors Experiences by the end of their undergraduate studies. Honors advisors are available to assist current student admits in developing their plan for completion of these Honors Experiences.
