Become a Spanish Language Educator

Research shows there are benefits of second language learning that exceed a student’s own linguistic abilities. Second language learning provides cognitive benefits that help to support academic achievement and improve beliefs about other cultures. Miami offers five K-12 licensure programs: Chinese, French, German, Latin, and Spanish.

Admission and Aid

This is Where your Journey to Miami University Begins.

Explore what it means to be a college student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where students prepare to go anywhere and everywhere. We’ll be here to help every step of the way as you prepare for college admission, enrollment, and success.

Students declare a pre-major in a Teacher Education program at the time of university admission or as soon as possible. After declaring a pre-major, students must apply for acceptance to a cohort-a group of students selected to experience certain parts of the program together. Selection is limited for each cohort to ensure quality instruction; those applicants with the greatest potential for academic success are selected for each cohort. Admission to Miami University or to the College of Education, Health, and Society as a pre-major neither implies nor guarantees selection to a cohort.
