Special Admission Requirements

Each undergraduate applicant, first-year or transfer, auditions for admission into the Department of Music. The audition is performed in front of the department's Admissions/Scholarship Committee and also serves as an audition for all departmental scholarships.

How to schedule your audition

The audition can be arranged by filling out the Audition Questionnaire/ Scholarship Application (AQSA) and returning it to the Department of Music. This form acts as your official application for admission to the department as a music major or minor. Three letters or forms of recommendation are also required to complete the application.

When to schedule your audition

High school students should audition early in their senior year. Transfer students should plan to audition during the year preceding enrollment at Miami University. In addition to the audition dates listed below, audition times are also available for instrumentalists Wednesdays beginning at 2:15 p.m. and for voice on Thursdays beginning at 9:05 a.m. during Fall Semester and Thursdays beginning at 10:10 a.m. during Spring Semester. Auditions are not scheduled during holidays and exam weeks. Recorded auditions (high quality CD or mini-disk) are acceptable if distance prohibits a personal audition.
