Student Organizations
Asian American Association (AAA) brings Asian American students together for various social, cultural, and awareness programs, including Asian Fest each February.
Association of Latino and American Students (ALAS) promotes Hispanic and Latin American culture on campus and encourages interaction with the Hispanic and Latin American community. Almost half of the organization's membership consists of non-Hispanic students who are interested in learning about Hispanic and Latin American culture.
Black Student Action Association (BSAA) is a student-founded social service group committed to the empowerment and success of African American students on campus. The BSAA is very active socially, culturally, and politically, and sponsors events such as the Unity Fest and Ebony Elegance, a homecoming celebration.
Chinese Students and Scholars Friendship Association (CSSFA) promotes Chinese culture on the campus and the interaction between U.S. and Chinese students.
Indian Student Association (ISA) helps to maintain the identity of subcontinental Indians and Indian Americans, enriches their community life, and promotes cultural exchange and understanding among Indians, Americans, and other minority groups. ISA sponsors an annual Diwali celebration in November.
International Club promotes cross-cultural awareness to students on campus and people in the Oxford community at large through social and cultural events that encourage interaction between international and U.S. students.
Japanese Culture and Language Club promotes awareness of Japanese culture by pursuing different activities related to Japan.
Miami Ambassadors Advocating Diversity works with the Office of Admission to recruit students of color by staffing the Bridges Program, welcoming special groups to campus, serving on panels, reaching out to high schools, and hosting prospective students.
Miami University Gospel Singers (MUGS) is an organization for those who enjoy gospel music, fellowship, and fun through contemporary gospel music.
Minority Association for Pre-Health (MAPS) offers students opportunities to network with multicultural health-care alumni and participate in educational programming. There is also a big sib/little sib program for first-year students.
Minority Students Professional Association (MSPA) provides information about multicultural issues as they relate to career and professional development. MSPA sponsors workshops, visits to area businesses, organizations, and graduate schools, and sponsors a career fair.
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) educates people on civil change, fights for political justice and defends the rights of all. Through community outreach, NAACP hopes to foster growth and spread the concept of equality to all.
Spectrum strives to create a positive environment at Miami University for students of all sexual orientations and to promote issues of diversity on campus. Through education, outreach, awareness, and social opportunities, Spectrum aims not only to empower all students, but also to celebrate and embrace everyone within the community.
