Title: Sr. Assistant Director / International Recruitment
High School: Convent Seremban, Malaysia
College Major(s): Finance, Business Management
Hello! Apa khabar! Ni hao! Namaste! My name is Ann Rahmat, and I grew up in Malaysia (7 cities including Johor Bahru and Petaling Jaya) and spent a solid 15 years in Denton, Texas. Since then, I have called Oxford, Ohio home. The transition from Texas to Ohio has been extremely easy with warm, welcoming and friendly folks in the Oxford community. I travel extensively for business and leisure, more work than fun, but all in good spirit. Too many cities to name, but I want to acknowledge the people and places I have visited and learned from along the way. Geographically: East Asia (17cities), Europe/Eurasia (9 cities), Middle East (7 cities), South Asia (4 cities), the Americas (3 cities) and Africa (2 cities.) To be fair, I should include the United States (30 cities in 17 states, at least.) I love my job, and am privileged to play a role in the field of international education, recruitment and admissions for over 12 years. I look forward to guiding students through the college admission process on the road to discover, experience, and grow at Miami and Oxford.
It is hard to pick a moment because every day in Oxford Township is a gift. It is a unique college town, New England feel, relaxed and friendly rural living atmosphere, and home to the vibrant and beautiful Miami campus. I absolutely enjoy the four seasons in the mid-west, but I must say spring is my favorite. An ideal day includes breakfast at Patterson’s Café, browsing at the Oxford Lane public library, coffee break at Starbucks, shopping at TJ Maxx, a leisurely walk around the Community Park, dinner Uptown at Krishna Indian restaurant, and ice cream at Spring Street Treats . . . “To think that in such a place, I led such a life.”
