Using Your Express Plan

The Miami Express Meal Plan works like a debit account; students have a balance that is accessed through their Miami ID card. Your meal plan is accepted at all Miami University dining locations. As you purchase beverages, meals and snacks throughout the semester your balance decreases. At the end of each year unspent meal plan dollars will automatically transfer to a Miami Express plan for the next year. Meal plan dollars are non-refundable.

Important Reminders:

Each time you use your meal plan, your account balance is displayed at the register. Be sure to check out our Frequently Asked Meal Plan Questions page for helpful info about the plans.

Weekly Buffets: In order to help students manage their meal plans during the semester, and to get a better value, buffet meals are divided per week each semester. Depending upon the level you select, you'll get a specific number of buffet meals added to your card each week. Your buffet meals will reset early on Saturday morning of each week. If you have any unused buffet meals at that time, they do not carry forward. Our Minimum, Plus and Standard levels also come with a "Bonus Week" of buffet meals. This means that those plans come with an extra week's worth of buffet meals, which DO roll forward each week. These are available to be used if you use up your normal week's worth of buffet meals.

Buffet Meal Flexibility: In addition to being used at any of our Buffet dining locations, your buffet meals can also be used to purchase special breakfast combos at select campus market locations, as well as lunch and dinner "to go" meals at Maplestreet Commons Express.

Declining Balance Dollars: For continuing students, any unspent declining balance meal plan dollars will automatically transfer to your meal plan for the next term. If you plan to be on campus during the summer, you will be able to use your declining balance at any open dining location. If you're planning to graduate, or not return next year, don't forget that unspent meal plan dollars are not refundable or transferable when you leave. We encourage you to monitor your balance regularly, and budget carefully if you're considering future deposit amounts before the end of the semester.
