IM Summer Camp

The REC Kids Camp is dedicated to providing children ages 6–12 an opportunity to develop athletic, artistic, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Activities are designed to help campers become more independent, enhance their self-confidence, and develop mind and body in a fun and safe learning environment. The REC Kids Camp prides itself on offering a high quality service at a reasonable rate.

Cost

  • Members $135/week includes all activities
  • Non-members $155/week includes all activities
  • Additional Child Discount $20 off member and non-member rate

A Day at Rec Kids Camp

Every week at the REC Kids Camp is unique. A weekly schedule of activities can be obtain on Monday from the camp counselor. Our goal is to introduce a new activity each week while still incorporating the core activities that kids love!

7:30 a.m.–11 a.m.

  • Each morning of camp, consist of check-in, icebreaker activity and stations.
  • Icebreakers are quick getting to know you exercises that performed by campers and counselors.
  • Stations change each week but consist of items like to trips to the library, on campus museums, arts and crafts projects, science experiments, and wall climbing.

11 a.m.–2 p.m.

  • The mid-day of camp consist of rec swimming, lunch, trip to peffer park, gymnastics, movie time, trip to western campus, sports time and Culinary visit.
  • For lunch, each camper must bring a lunch to camp. Parents are also encourage to pack two snacks for each camper. Food allergies must be denoted on the required camp forms. For severe food allergies, please contact the camp director.

2 p.m.–5 p.m.

The end of our camp day consists of check-out, large group games, and snacks.

Field Trips

Each week contains a special Thursday/Friday event (see list above) which is tied to the theme of the week. If the field trip is outdoors, we may change to an indoor venue based on the outlook of the weather.

Drop-off & Pick-up

Campers should be pick-up and drop off at the west entrance of Phillips Hall. Phillips Hall is located behind the Campus Ave Building.

  • Standard drop-off is 7:15 a.m.–9:00 a.m.
  • Standard pick-up is 4:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.

Campers arriving after the standard drop-off much check in at the Rec Pro-shop. Campers needing additional pick-up or drop off times must contact Geremy Bardon 937-248-1698 to make arrangements and/or be provided special instructions.

What to Bring and Not Bring

Campers should bring the following items in a marked bag or backpack each day:

  • Lunch and Snacks (morning & afternoon)
  • Sunscreen
  • Swim suit and towel (any other swimming needs)
  • An extra t-shirt and extra socks
  • A water bottle
  • Full cover shoes (ex. sneakers)
  • Children under age 8 need a booster seat on Wednesday’s
  • Money (field trip day only)

The REC Kids Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Campers should not bring the following:

  • Personal toys or collectors cards
  • Gum
  • Cell phones
  • Any electronic devices (iPads, portable video games, etc.)
