FIT Workshops and Special Events

We offer more than 80 different group fitness classes per week during the academic year including: Spinning®, Indo-Row®, Yoga, TRX Suspension Training, Zumba®, and more! Classes are first come first serve, with admittance beginning 10 minutes before start of class time.

Interested in becoming a Group Fitness Instructor or hosting a private group fitness class for your department or organization? Group Fitness Workshops

Youth Ballet (Winter/Spring 2019)


Ballet is a fun way for children to be active, improve their balance, and start to understand how their bodies relate to music. Youth Ballet will focus on the fundamentals of ballet by helping students develop strength, correct body alignment, and the beginning of musicality. With a strong emphasis on technique, students 5–10 years old will be introduced to foundational barre and floor exercises and the beginning of choreography. Instruction will be tailored to the experience and skill level of each dancer. No previous ballet experience is necessary.

In this workshop, you will learn the routines classical ballet dancers do every day to develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance. Designed for those new to ballet for beginners, we will focus on the fundamentals of technique in a safe and supportive environment. Those with more dance experience are welcome to use the class to improve their technique.

Fundamentals of Yoga (Spring 2019)


Fundamentals of Yoga is a welcoming class for newcomers to yoga and those seeking a refresher or slower pace. Participants will learn and build confidence in fundamental breathing, poses, safe alignment, and ways to modify for your needs. Spend 60 minutes taking time for yourself to better prepare you for the yoga classes offered on the regular Group Fitness schedule

Restorative Yoga (Spring 2019)


Allow yourself to relax and restore your body and mind. Join in this special class dedicated to restoring your body. An instructor will guide you through yoga poses supported by blankets and props to facilitate deep relaxation. If you have a yoga bolster, please bring it.

Here we glow again! Straight into another semester we go. Start the year off on the bright foot and join Miami Recreation Group Fitness for a back to school event featuring glow in the dark Zumba® and Kickboxing. Shine bright in your glowing gear to show off your Zumba® and kickboxing skills.

Purchase a pass at the Recreational Sports Center. All passes are valid in the semester they are purchased and will expire at the end of each semester, with the exception of unlimited-month, academic year and 12-month passes.

Classes are a first come, first serve basis. Please arrive 10 minutes before class to swipe in and ensure your space in the class.
