Biographical Sketch

Linda Barrett is a native Ohioan with a long-term commitment to Miami University (MU) where she graduated with honors, earning a BA in Speech Communication (1992) and a Master of Gerontological Studies (1993). After a 33-year federal government career with the Social Security Administration (SSA), Linda took "early retirement" in 2008 to embrace a caregiving commitment. Linda retired as the Assistant District Manager for the metro Dayton SSA offices. In addition to serving as an Adjunct Gerontology Instructor at MU for a number of years, Linda has worked as a consultant in the field of aging, a communication and public relations specialist, and has conducted extensive workshops throughout the midwest as a certified cultural diversity trainer. Linda's areas of interest in the field of aging are spirituality, personal wellness, and family caregiving.
