Biographical Sketch

Kathryn McGrew, MSW, PhD, is active in qualitative and evaluation research in long-term care and decision making in later life. Her research includes explorations of individual and family long-term-care planning and decision making; family caregiving; quality of caregiver support services; the Aging Network, and evaluation of formal services, consumer direction, and quality of care. Dr. McGrew’s research has been supported by the Retirement Research Foundation, the U.S. Administration for Community Living, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Ohio Long-Term Care Research Project, the Ohio Department of Aging, the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council, the Ohio Department of Mental Health, the Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio, Indiana’s LifeTime Resources, and MetLife Mature Market Institute. Most recently she led projects deigned to promote and sustain person-and family-centered care at home, including the development and evaluation of “What Matters Most: A Guide for My Support and Care;” the development and evaluation of caregiver assessment and support plans for Ohio’s home and community based Medicaid waiver programs; and the development and testing of a family communication and care coordination guide for aging parents and their adult children.
