2021 W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Gerontology Alumni Awardees
Each year, Scripps Gerontology Center presents selected Miami University gerontology alumni with the W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Gerontology Alumni award for outstanding leadership and achievement in the field of aging. This year, the award was given to two recipients: Angela Heath and Mark Kolada.

The Scripps Gerontology Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Takashi Yamashita is the recipient of the 2020 W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Alumni award. This award recognizes Miami University gerontology graduate student alumni for outstanding leadership in the field of aging.

New majors, a new department, approved by Miami trustees
Miami University trustees at their May 17 meeting approved the establishment of two bachelor of arts degrees — one with a major in data analytics and one with a major in organizational leadership — both in the College of Arts and Science.

In Memoriam

He was a pioneer in the areas of retirement research, continuity theory, and spirituality and aging. He will be dearly missed by several generations of gerontology students and colleagues at Miami University and far beyond.
