Elizabeth 'Like' Lokon, an educational leadership alumna wins 2018 Bishop Medal
Established in 1936, the Bishop Medal is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in service to humanity. The award is named in honor of Robert Hamilton Bishop, Miami’s first president.

2018 Colonial Services Long-Term Care Research Award Recipient
The Colonial Services Long-Term Care Research award is presented to a gerontology graduate student for outstanding research or program development in long-term care. The award is funded by a contribution from Colonial Senior Services of Hamilton, Ohio to the Scripps Gerontology Center. The 2018 awardee is Nytasia Hicks.

Public Radio taps Scripps Gerontology and the Knolls for expertise on aging
“Cincinnati Edition,” an hour-long weekday program, went on the road March 7 for a show discussing the issues of aging. The program originated in the Athletic Performance Center adjacent to Miami’s Yager Stadium. The program is a production of Cincinnati Public Radio, which operates the Miami University station WMUB as well as WVXU.

Scripps Gerontology Center and the Aging and Disability Business Institute partnership charts the role of community-based organizations in health care
In the January 2018 issue of Health Affairs, researchers from Yale University and the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University of Ohio published a study finding that AAA involvement in a broad variety of cross-sector collaborations with health care and social service organizations is associated with a reduction in hospital re-admission rates.
