A new suite of resources developed by Miami University's Scripps Gerontology Center will help families navigate the difficult process of establishing and coordinating care for a loved one. Informed by years of research and feedback from people with care needs and their families, Our Family, Our Way helps families think and talk about caregiving.

Featured in Springfield News-Sun and Dayton Daily News, Dr. Kate de Medieros writes an op-ed on COVID-19 and attitudes towards older adults. The article highlights the danger of ageist approaches of lumping older adults together based on chronological age and under the umbrella of vulnerability.

The Administration for Community Living (ACL), has awarded a second 3-year grant to Ohio partners aimed at expanding dementia-capable communities and implementation of programs within underserved communities.

Survey by Miami researchers finds communication is key for families of long-term care residents during COVID-19 visitation restrictions
Scripps Director of Research, Dr. Jane Straker and Scripps Research Associate, Dr. Mi Sun Choi recently conducted an online survey to find out how families and residents are staying in touch, and how families feel about new ways of communicating with the facility and the residents.

Caregiving research study seeks families
Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University is looking for caregiving families to help test an online communication and care coordination resource designed to help families talk and make decisions about caregiving.
