Grant funded dementia care education available for Ohio nursing homes
The Eden Alternative, in collaboration with the Ohio Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, is seeking Medicare and/or Medicaid participating nursing homes in Ohio that are inspired to make a difference in the lives of those who live with dementia.

Mentorship and collaboration: research making a difference in the lives of Ohio families
This summer Sara Stemen and Leah Janssen, PhD students in Social Gerontology, mentored five undergraduate students working on a statewide nursing home and residential care facility family satisfaction survey that provides data for Ohio's Long-term Care Consumer Guide.

Scripps Gerontology Center a partner in Oxford’s survey on aging
Survey on aging in Oxford expands. A survey seeking local needs for an aging population has been expanded from a written one sent to 700 random people to an online survey with everyone invited to take part.

Miami University's Phyllis Cummins elected to National Council for Workforce Education Board
Dr. Phyllis Cummins, Senior Research Scholar at Scripps Gerontology Center, has been elected to serve on the National Council for Workforce Education's Board of Directors. Cummins joins three other new members elected to the board and will serve a one-year term. In 2012, Dr. Cummins was awarded the James Jacobs Scholarship Award from NCWE for her dissertation research on older workers attaining credentials and degrees at community colleges.

Public Radio taps Scripps Gerontology and the Knolls for expertise on aging
“Cincinnati Edition,” an hour-long weekday program, went on the road March 7 for a show discussing the issues of aging. The program originated in the Athletic Performance Center adjacent to Miami’s Yager Stadium. The program is a production of Cincinnati Public Radio, which operates the Miami University station WMUB as well as WVXU.
