Majors, Minors and More

Anthropology at Miami emphasizes a holistic approach to learning through experiences in a wide variety of courses, independent studies, and field research. The core courses lay a foundation in biological anthropology, archaeology, cultural anthropology and linguistic anthropology. From there, you build knowledge and understanding in areas of your own interests. Students in anthropology are encouraged to study abroad and to participate in both Miami-based and international learning experiences.

The Anthropology Major

All anthropology majors receive a broad introduction to the four subfields of anthropology:

  2. ATH 231: Foundations of Cultural Anthropology (4 credits)
