Day of the Dead is observed in Mexico from October 31 to November 2. The holiday's origins lie in indigenous Mesoamerican religions, but the celebration now coincides with the Catholic observances of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day (from which Halloween is derived). With increased Mexican immigration, Day of the Dead customs are becoming more conspicuous in the United States.
