"Miami Student" reports on Oman/UAE trip

The study abroad trip to Oman and UAE led by assistant professor Nathan French during Winter Term 2016 was featured in The Miami Student's January 26 issue.

Headlined "Students span the globe during break," the article by student journalist Alison Perelman spotlighted the Oman/UAE trip alongside Winter study abroad trips to Peru, England, and Jamaica. The article quoted Ian Marker, a senior double-majoring in religion and strategic communication, who is also serving as an officer in the Comparative Religion Student Association.

Marker told The Miami Student that his favorite part of the trip "was seeing the transition between the really cultural and traditional Oman to its neighbor country, UAE, that is just this economy of corporations and money."

Marker was one of 16 students who accompanied Dr. French to Oman and UAE for the Winter 2016 trip. This is the third study abroad trip that Miami students have made to Oman, the first being in Winter 2015. The theme of the study abroad experience is "Arabian Gulf Economies in Social Transition."
