The new Shideler Hall is an unprecedented opportunity for the Institute for the Environment and Sustainability to partner with the geosciences in the development of state-of-the-art facilities for students in the Master of Environmental Science program and the Institute’s three undergraduate programs in environmental science, sustainability and energy.


Geography has long been central to a high-quality liberal arts education at Miami, and our graduates have gone on to success in business, government, and the academic community. The Department of Geography has awarded more than 250 master’s degrees. Geography Department faculty are committed to educating their undergraduate and graduate students. Miami’s geography program includes faculty and courses covering a wide range of geographic inquiry. In recent years, the number of our majors in Geography and Urban and Regional Planning has increased to well over 100, while the Master’s Degree programhas nine students with full Graduate Assistantships. Geography faculty are leading scholars with national and international reputations. The department has excellent facilities and equipment to assist in the learning process.
