Applying for Assistantships

The Department of Mathematics is assigned 18 graduate assistantships, roughly half of which are filled each year.  The application for admission, application for an assistantship and information about our graduate school can be fund at the home page of the Graduate School

The assistantship application requires three letters of recommendation. Admission and aid are based on overall academic record (especially in mathematics courses) and on letters of recommendation. We do not require the GRE exams (general or mathematics subject), but some applicants do submit these and these tests can play a positive role in the applicant's chances for admission and aid. Foreign students whose native language is not English are asked to take the TOEFL exam, on which we look for a score of at least 550 (paper exam). We ask you to have your application submitted by February 1.
