Cheryl GibbsCheryl Gibbs joined Miami's Journalism faculty in 2004 after 11 years of teaching at Earlham College in Richmond, Ind. During the 1990s, Gibbs spoke about and taught public journalism throughout the United States as well as in Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia. She is co-author of the textbook “Getting the Whole Story: Reporting and Writing the News” (Guilford Press, 2002). Earlier, Gibbs worked for 12 years as a newspaper reporter and editor, and a broadcast journalist, in California, Indiana and Ohio. She currently directs the Miami-Whitewater Valley Public Media Project. Gibbs earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis; a master’s in journalism from Ball State University; and she is a master's candidate in history at Miami. She operates a guest house in Richmond with her husband, Mickey White.
