Cheryl HecklerCheryl Heckler is the author of four books, including "An Accidental Journalist" (University of Missouri Press, 2007). A former writer for The New York Times Syndicate and specialist in religion in American culture, she has been published in more than 100 newspapers in North America, including The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times and The Atlanta Journal & Constitution. For more than 10 years, Heckler wrote for Ecumenical News International, based in Geneva, Switzerland. Her ENI work, published in English and French, focused on social justice and inter-religious dialogue. She established the Reid-Heckler Scholarship for undergraduate journalists reporting from post-war or developing nations. Heckler earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University and a master's in religious education from United Theological Seminary.
