I am interested in philosophical conceptions of nature and art and how they have influenced conceptions of subjectivity historically.  I approach my work in eighteenth and nineteenth century philosophy of nature and art (particularly in Kant, German Idealism, and Nietzsche) from the perspective of questions that originate in feminist theory and contemporary continental philosophy.  I also do work in aesthetics and I am interested in the conjunction of philosophy and literature.  I teach courses in 19th century philosophy, 20th century continental philosophy, existentialism, aesthetics, feminist theory, and environmental philosophy.
