Dr. Abbott is a graduate from the Miami University Masters in Gerontological Studies program. She completed her PhD in 2005 from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Nursing from 2006-2012 and most recently was a Senior Research Scientist at the Polisher Researcher Institute of the Abramson Center for Jewish Life (formally the Philadelphia Geriatric Center). Her research focuses on social networks and health, social preferences in long-term care, and person centered care with an emphasis on persons with dementia. She recently joined the faculty at Miami University in the Department of Sociology and Gerontology and will be teaching courses in long-term care, qualitative methods and social policy.
