Upham Hall in Autumn

Criminology

This minor offers a liberal arts curriculum organized around critical thinking and reflective study of crime, law, and justice. Coursework focuses on understanding theories of crime casualty, adult and juvenile offenders, and the social responses to crime from past to present. The minor requires the completion of an internship (SOC 440.C) in an agency, program, or institution within the criminal justice system that deals with criminal offenders. Some students building their internship experiences into employment with law enforcement and social service agencies after graduation.

The minor offers two tracks: one for the non-sociology major and another for sociology majors.
