Force Add Policy

While we will try to accommodate students’ requests to the best of our abilities in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, we do have the following force add policy:

You should NOT attend class or purchase a course text until you are officially registered for a Spanish course.

Students who want to force add SPN 311 and upper-level courses (including SPN 241/242) should contact the course instructor for force add information.

Students who want to add SPN 101, 102, 111, 201, 202, or 203 should try to do so through BannerWeb during open registration, recognizing that few spaces may be available.

Students who are enrolling in their FIRST Spanish course at Miami University should take the Spanish placement exam or to verify their previous placement exam results. Any questions regarding this placement should be sent to spanishplacement@miamioh.edu.

Please make sure that you follow the appropriate dates and times below based upon your year. Force add requests submitted before these dates/times will not be considered.

Seniors (with 96 credits or more):

Please e-mail the course instructor to request to be added to the course NO EARLIER THAN 7:30 a.m. THE FRIDAY BEFORE THE START OF THE SEMESTER. Students should be prepared to provide a transcript or other documentation to prove they have earned at least 96 credit hours and meet the course prerequisite (credit for the previous course or placement exam score).
NOTE:
Force add requests submitted before these dates/times will not be considered.

Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen (with fewer than 96 credits):

Please e-mail the course instructor to request to be added to the course NO EARLIER THAN 7:30 a.m. THE FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER (MONDAY). Students should be prepared to provide a transcript or other documentation showing that they meet the course prerequisite (credit for the previous course or placement exam score) and also showing the number of credit hours earned.  If two requests are received simultaneously, priority will be given to the student with the most credit hours earned, according to the attached DARS or transcript.

NOTE: Force add requests submitted before these dates/times will not be considered.
