Commencement Announcement
The Spring 2016 university commencement will be Saturday, May 14, at 1:30 p.m. in Yager Stadium, rain or shine. Gates to Yager Stadium will open at 10 a.m. and families may enter through the south and west gates. All degree candidates are to report to Yager Stadium, with their robe and cap in hand, no later than 12:30 p.m. THIS IS A NEW REQUIREMENT – no robes and caps are to be worn to Yager Stadium. All items on the prohibited items list will be confiscated if found on any person preparing to enter the field. The ushers and marshals will notify the candidates when it is time to put on their academic attire.

Afro-Cuban Art
Juan Carlos L. Albarran, Lecturer, Latin American, Latino/a, and Caribbean Studies, Global and Intercultural Studies Department, College of Arts & Sciences This talk will focus on the role of Afro-Cuban art at different historical moments in Cuban society, where Afro-Cuban contributions have played a major role in Cuba, at the same time the Afro-Cuban population has remained marginalized from major economic, social, and political changes taking place in the island.
