George Creel and the Propaganda Machine Jason Shaiman, Curator of Exhibitions. Miami University Art Museum Wednesday, March 8, 5:30 pm One week after America declared war on Germany in 1917, President Wilson appointed muckraking journalist George Creel to head the Committee on Public Information (CPI). Shaiman will examine how Creel grew the small agency tasked with promoting positive images of the war to a global advertising giant that helped secure the Allied victory in 1918.

Conservation Conversation March 13 10 a.m. Public Program 12-1:30 p.m. Student/Faculty Program 10 am Conservation Conversation PUBLIC PROGRAM The public is invited to converse with Cincinnati conservator Michael Ruzga at the Art Museum as he works on a 16th century Italian oil painting. Formerly Chief Conservator of the Taft Museum of Art, Ruzga has treated numerous paintings over the past twenty years, including works by Rembrandt, Renoir, Bouguereau and others. Co-sponsored by Miami University Art Museum Docent Program 12–1:30 pm CONSERVATION AT WORK Faculty & Student PROGRAM Faculty and students curious about professional opportunities in the field of conservation are encouraged to drop in on Michael Ruzga, Director and Head of Conservation at Fine Arts Conservation, Inc., as he works on a 16th century Italian oil painting in the Art Museum’s collection. Miami art students receive awards at Emerging Artist Exhibition
Three Miami University art students were selected to present at the Summerfair Cincinnati Emerging Artist Exhibition on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center.
