Close up of hands working on a projectThe Chemical, Paper, and Biomedical Engineering department offers 3 different majors and 4 different minors.  Students learn to apply mathematics, biological and physical sciences, social sciences, economics, and engineering to solve problems pertaining to a diverse range of industries. Graduates from our department are prepared for employment in both public and private sector industries and for advanced education in engineering and professional programs (e.g. medical, law, business).

Undergraduate

Majors

  • Bioengineering - the integration of biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles to solve problems pertaining to healthcare and biotechnology
  • Chemical Engineering - the application of biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles to solve problems pertaining to chemical and paper manufacture, energy, environmental protection, and much more!
  • Engineering Management - the integration of business management, economics, and engineering to prepare students for careers in industry

Minors 

  • Bioengineering Minor - the application of biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles to solve problems related to healthcare.
  • Chemical Engineering - the application of biological and physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering principles to solve problems pertaining to chemical process industry
  • Paper Science and Engineering - the application of engineering principles to solve problems pertaining to the pulp and paper industry
  • Process Control

Graduate

  • Master of Science - for students who wish to pursue a MS degree in Chemical Engineering after graduating with BS in an engineering or science-related field of study.
  • Combined BS-MS - for students who are currently in an engineering curriculum at Miami and wish to pursue both a BS and MS degree in a 4+1 program.
