Divergent Thinking Activity

Students on the floor looking at divergent thinking activity.

Students in Project High Flight test a Divergent Thinking activity developed by the Creativity Team. Students were each given a number of small picture fragments and had to reproduce each one in larger scale. They then worked together to try and reassemble the larger scale picture. There were no hints or guidelines regarding the original picture. The students needed to consider all the possible combinations of picture fragments in order to eventually discover the solution. This activity requires both artistic and puzzle solving skills.

Once all the lessons learned from this test are incorporated, the updated version of this activity will be conducted with a group of elementary school children. It is our expectation that the children will do better than the older college students.
