Arrival in a New World

Two boys asleep in the airport between flights.

Blog post:

It’s a real ordeal to get from Springfield, Ohio, to Mumbai, India. My trip started around 3:00 pm Monday, December 29th, when my parents drove me from my house in Springfield to my house in Oxford. My flight the next morning from Cincinnati to Detroit left around 6:30 A.M. and we wanted as much sleep as we could get before having to depart.

After waking up at 2:40 A.M. on Tuesday December 30th, my family departed for the Cincinnati Airport. By the time we arrived, parked, and made our way into the terminal it was 4:00 A.M. There, I met up with the other students who would also be going on this adventure with me. Another half hour passed and our group finally departed from our parents and guardians to set off on our on a 10,000 mile journey.

The next 20 hours of my life is a blur with 18 hours of it spent on planes and the other 2 hours spent in Amsterdam security and check in.

Upon arrival to India at 12:10 A.M. on January 1st, we had to locate item declaration forms. But once outside, we easily found our professor and headed to the hotel, a 15 minute drive away (which wasn’t too crazy given that it was now 2:30 A.M.) After checking in to the hotel, we found our rooms and eagerly unpacked so we could sleep and begin our adventure in a new world.
