Night Vision

View of the Arecibo Observatory at night.

The Arecibo Observatory holds the world’s largest and most sensitive radio telescope. The Observatory operates on a continuous basis, 24 hours a day every day, providing observing time, electronics, computer, travel and logistic support to scientists from all over the world. All results of research are published in scientific literature which is available to the public.

Because the Arecibo Observatory has world’s largest single dish radio telescope the facility is very important for scientists that may research the ionosphere, study radio astronomy or investigate planetary radar.

Our group was fortunate enough to get to see how research is done in such a facility.  Since a great deal of research in the field of astronomy is done here I thought I should take a couple night photos.
