Welcome Dr. Mark Scott!

Mark Scott demonstrates something in the lab to two male students.

Dr. Mark Scott has always known what he wanted to do in life: as a child, he would take things apart just to figure out how they work, and as a freshman in college, he already knew he wanted to become a professor.

Mark is one of the newest ECE professors on campus. Before coming to Miami, he attended school at The Ohio State University. His time there reinforced his passion for teaching, and he felt that the profession would allow him an avenue for giving back.

He was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) fellowship in 2014 to perform research on the power supplies used in fusion reactors. This fellowship allowed him to travel to Hefei, China, to study the electrical systems of their tokamak. Mark is interested in recruiting graduate students to apply for the same fellowship during his time here.
