Miami Meets India, a collaborative event with the College of Engineering and Computing, Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute, and Global Initiatives, was held on Monday, September 21st, in the MacMillan Hall Great Room.

The event, hosted by Mr. Srinivas Krishnan, the artist-in-residence in Global Initiatives, was attended by over 80 faculty, students and special guests.  The program featured a meal of authentic Indian cuisine and speeches by more than a dozen guests, including: members of the Don Quixote Dance Theatre from South India, Dr. Meena Subramanyam, Vice President of Translational Sciences at Biogen Inc., in Cambridge, MA; Ms. Pryanka Chandrasekaran, Senior Consultant in KPMG’s IT Advisory Practice in Seattle; Marek Dollár, Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing.

It was also an opportunity for Cohort Three students in the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute to share some of the learnings they received in the American & World Cultures class on India’s Music, Film and Dance.  As seniors in their third year of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute, gaining a global perspective is part of their strategic leadership objective.

Global Initiatives is the campus center supporting and encouraging the Miami University commitment to dynamic and comprehensive internationalization resulting in a diverse cultural and global learning experience for students.

The Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute engages engineering and computer science students in a unique and transformative learning experience to cultivate leaders who will flourish in their professions and lives.
