Two CEC students received national awards from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). Both students are members of the Miami chapter of AIChE, advised by Dr. Andrew Paluch.

Chris Hill is a Chemical Engineering major with minors in Mechanical Engineering and Paper Engineering. He is a recipient of the AIChE Donald F. Othmer Sophomore Academic Excellence Award due to his high academic achievement.

“Last year he served as the treasurer [for the Miami AIChE chapter], and he was the most responsible, productive, and focused of all the officers. This year he will be working with me to plan the regional meeting,” said Dr. Paluch.

Jeremy Phifer is a recipient of the AIChE Freshman Recognition Award. Jeremy began working with Dr. Paluch on a research project last fall, and will be listed as ‘first author’ on several journal articles. Last year he gave two poster presentations and traveled with Dr. Paluch to the Midwest Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics Conference to give an oral presentation.
