Exciting Internship in India during Winter Term

The excitement of experiencing India during a 2015 winter term study abroad trip let sophomore Emma Brodman to return this year for a winter break intership in Ankleshwar India.

Emma visited BEIL (Bharuch Environ Infrastructure), a hazardous waste disposal company and toured all departments to understand how they worked. She reviewed India's environmental laws that came into effect
in the 80's and 90's and reviewed BEIL's safety precautions. She also spent time at ETL (Environ Technology Ltd.), a hazardous waterwater treatment plant, focusing her time in their laboratories.

Staying with two host families, Emma was able to interact with local college engineering students to compare and contrast their educational experiences. She learned to ride a motorcycle and indulged her love for Indian cuisine.

"Real world experiences really help in understand classroom learning and I highly recommend students try to build an international experience into their Miami time. Figuring our how to adapt to different languages and expectations is really a growth experience."

What's next for Emma? A summer internship, domestic this time!
