Dr. Fazeel Kahn - Recipient of the 2016 CEC Outstanding Research Award

Dean Dollar recently announced the recipient of the 2016 Outstanding Research Award to be Dr. Fazeel Kahn, Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. The award was presented at the College of Engineering and Computing Divisional Meeting on Friday, August 26, 2016.

The Award Selection Committee noted that Fazeel's "long-term success in the experimental characterization and constitutive modeling of the elastic-plastic deformation behavior of biocompatible polymeric materials was a key factor in his selection for this award". They observed that he "has a number of impressive results, including multiple well-cited publications in the top journals of his field and a position of PI on multiple external grants and that external colleagues of his have labeled his work as 'transformative', and he is on par with 'top researchers in more traditional engineering fields', and put him in a 'small community of scholars who [have] made significant contributions' to his field".
