At Miami University, we believe that incorporating and promoting diversity and inclusion involves designing and implementing your course using a variety of course materials, teaching techniques, and learning activities that accommodate a diverse group of students with a range of learning styles, abilities, experiences, and cultures. It may also mean that issues of diversity are part of the course learning objectives and outcomes. In addition, topics related to diversity may be embedded within the course content. At Miami University, we also believe that courses need to be accessible for all learners. Inclusive teaching tactics refer to any number of teaching styles that address the needs of students with a variety of backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities. These tactics contribute to an overall inclusive learning environment, in which students feel equally valued.

The Center for Teaching Excellence is committed to helping you develop and deliver courses that are inclusive and promote diversity.
