Town Hall meeting looks toward a more sustainable Miami

The Miami University community is invited to a Town Hall meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Room 270 of the engineering building. The topic of discussion is moving Miami toward a more sustainable future. Provost Jeffrey Herbst will introduce David Prytherch, assistant professor of geography, as the new faculty sustainability coordinator.

University Senate to meet Aug. 31

The 2009-2010 University Senate will meet at 3:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in 111 Harrison Hall. University Senate is the legislative body of the university in matters involving educational programs, requirements, standards, faculty welfare and student conduct.


String faculty recital Aug. 29

Miami University string faculty will present a recital at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in Souers Recital Hall, Center for Performing Arts. Violinist Harvey Thurmer, violist Mary E.M. Harris and cellist Pansy Chang, associate professors of music, will perform with guest pianist Robert Moeling.

Tri-state colleges and universities rolled out swine flu (H1N1) action plans Monday as at least four cases - and possibly more - were confirmed at three schools. Two cases were at Xavier, two at UC and Miami reported two instances of Type A flu. Miami spokesperson Claire Wagner (news and public information) said experts at the Centers for Disease Control say they should be presumed as swine flu.

Story about Ohio University deciding to raise tuition and fees $100 a quarter, starting this winter, mentions the schools who have already raised tuition and says Ohio State, Miami and the University of Cincinnati have pledged not to raise tuition this academic year.
