Research team studies effect of climate change on Antarctica's wingless midge

Richard Lee, Distinguished Professor of Zoology at Miami University, will leave for his eighth research expedition to Palmer Station, Antarctica, on Dec. 26. Joining him will be Natalie Harr, a first grade teacher from Crestwood Primary School in Mantua, who will lead the team's educational outreach program to stimulate interest in Antarctic biology and research in younger students.

Miami's student counseling service internship program is accredited

Miami University announces that its student counseling service (SCS), a department of student affairs, has received the highest level of accreditation available for its pre-doctoral internship program by the American Psychological Association's Commission on Accreditation (APA-CoA) until 2018. APA-CoA is the accrediting authority for professional education and training in psychology.


Symphony Orchestra presents "Treasure from Behind the Curtain"

The Miami University Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Ricardo Averbach, will perform with guest pianist Michael Chertock at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at Hall Auditorium. Admission is free. The program, "Treasures from Behind the Curtain," will feature forgotten masterpieces from Russia and Eastern Europe.

  • Web grading will open at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, for fall semester 2011 grade submission and remain open until noon Tuesday, Dec. 20. Promptly at noon on Dec. 20, web grading will close and the registrar's office will begin end-of-term processing. Due to the December holiday schedule, there is an urgency of ensuring that grade submission deadlines are met. Email registrar@muohio.edu with questions.
  • This is the last week to visit Out of the Shadows (Pat 1) Exhibition at the Miami University Art Museum. The galleries will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, and re-open Jan. 10, 2012, with new exhibitions.
