Miami University Steel Band, with steel pan virtuoso Victor Provost, Nov. 13

The Miami University Steel Band, directed by Chris Tanner, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Hall Auditorium. The concert will feature special guest artist Victor Provost, steel pan performer, composer and recording artist.


"Spencers: Theatre of Illusion" Nov. 14; International Magicians of the Year not your "typical magicians"

"Spencers: Theatre of Illusion" is not your run-of-the-mill magic show and the Spencers are not your typical magicians. The Spencers, named the 2009 International Magicians of the Year, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Hall Auditorium, as part of the Miami University Performing Arts Series.

Miami University launches iTunes U, a free way to widely distribute digital lectures, music, performances and more to showcase the variety of academic, intellectual and social opportunities within the Miami experience.

The Miami University community is invited to participate in one of three community forums to learn about Miami University's new academic division for the regional campus locations. Feedback is welcome on naming the new division, the hiring process and the transfer of existing departments and programs.

Elizabeth "Buffy" Stoll, director of new student programs at Miami University, has received the National Orientation Directors Association's 2012 Outstanding Research Award.


Nutrition conference focuses on childhood nutrition

Miami University's fourth semi-annual kinesiology and health (KNH) Nutrition Conference will take place 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, in Phillips Hall. This semester's conference focuses on childhood nutrition. Current students in Miami's department of kinesiology and health and Miami alumni are among contributors to the event.
