Miami Mock trial wins first and second at ORCS; teams advance to national championship

Two teams from the Miami University James Lewis Family Mock Trial program placed first and second in the Opening Round Championship Series (ORCS) held in Hamilton March 24-25. They will go on to compete in the 48-team field in the American Mock Trial Association National Championship Tournament hosted by Hamline University April 13-15 in Minneapolis.


Peter Sis, noted children's book illustrator, author, filmmaker, to speak at Miami

Miami University will host the 2012 May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture, featuring Peter Sis, an internationally acclaimed illustrator, author, filmmaker and MacArthur Fellow, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in Hall Auditorium. Sis was recently named the winner of the 2012 Hans Christian Andersen Illustrator Award, considered the most prestigious in international children's literature.


Miami University and PNC Bank enter into agreement to provide banking services to students and employees

PNC Bank, N.A., and Miami University announced Wednesday, March 28, a new banking relationship that enhances Miami's ongoing efforts to create efficient and cost-effective methods of operations and provide new banking services for students, faculty and staff.

Howe Center hosts two presentations for faculty

The Howe Center for Writing Excellence is hosting two presentations - one on teaching international students and the other on using writing in large classes - Tuesday, April 3.


Meet the artists of Ragamala Dance and enjoy an Indian feast

"Sacred Earth, Sacred Arts: An Indian Feast For Your Senses and Your Soul" will be held 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the Goggin Ice Center Club Lounge. The community is invited to sample Indian food and meet the artists of Ragamala Dance. The feast is free and open to the public.

  • The Women in Art Film Series presents "Georgia O'Keefe" at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Miami University Art Museum. The film focuses on O'Keefe's development as an artist and her stormy relationship with Alfred Stieglitz. The film series is in conjunction with the spring exhibition "Out of the Shadows: The Rise of Women in Art, Part 2."
  • Stacy Reichert, chief customer officer for PepsiCo Foodservice, is part of the Farmer School of Business' Executive Speaker Series this spring. She will speak at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the David R. Taylor Auditorium at the Farmer School of Business. It is free and open to the public.
