Prashant Rajan, a junior at Miami University with a double major in biochemistry and zoology and a double minor in molecular biology and neuroscience, has received a Goldwater Scholarship. He is one of 282 students nationwide to receive the scholarship, the premier undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, natural science and engineering. Dirk Auman, sophomore double major in biochemistry and engineering physics, with a minor in computer science, received a Goldwater Scholar Honorable Mention.

The 2012-2013 University Senate met on Monday, April 2, to elect two faculty members to next year's Executive Committee of University Senate: Mary Cayton (history), and Steve Wyatt (finance), chair-elect. James Kiper (computer science and software engineering) will serve as 2012-2013 Executive Committee chair.
Alfred Joseph, associate professor of social work and family studies at Miami University, died Sunday, April 1, at his home in Oxford. He was 56.
