Miami welcomes class of 2016

Miami University anticipates about 3,725 first-year students - a record number - as it welcomes them to campus Thursday, Aug. 16, for move-in day. Staff and student volunteers, including Miami President David Hodge and Mrs. Valerie Hodge, will be on hand to greet, direct, sign-in and carry boxes for students and families.

U.S. vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan to speak at Miami

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, a 1992 graduate of Miami and vice presidential running mate for presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will speak at Miami as part of a campaign visit Wednesday, Aug. 15.


Open session with vice president for advancement candidate

An open session is planned Friday with Tom Herbert, a finalist for the position of vice president for advancement. Interested Miami faculty and staff are invited to attend, 1:30 p.m. ? 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in the Staley Lounge, lower level, Murstein Alumni Center.

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (alumnus) will make his first appearance in Ohio as a Republican vice presidential candidate at Miami University Wednesday at an outdoor rally sponsored by Miami's College Republicans. U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan is the first Miami graduate to be on the presidential ballot since 1892 when Republican President Benjamin Harrison and his running mate, Whitelaw Reid, ran.

Thanks to an anonymous donor Miami University Hamilton has established the Cpl. Nicholas Olivas Valor Award in honor of the U.S. Army airborne infantryman and Butler County native who was killed in Afghanistan in May 2012.
