An estate and annuity gift totaling more than $370,000 from Velma M. Patterson (Miami '28) will supplement the previously established Velma M. Patterson McGuffey Scholarship, which supports education majors within Miami University's School of Education, Health and Society.
Miami University and the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) will host the Southwest Ohio Articulation Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Oxford. More than 400 high school counselors and college admission representatives are registered to attend.
The documentary film "Precious Knowledge" will be screened at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Shriver Center multipurpose rooms. It will be followed by a panel discussion at 7 p.m. with the filmmaker Eren Isabel McGinnis and educators from the Tucson (Ariz.) Unified School District.
Miami University Middletown presents a Peking Opera performance by the Taiwan National College of the Performing Arts at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Campus and Community Center.

Eurasian ecology
Richard Munson, botany lecturer and manager of The Conservatory at Miami University Hamilton campus, will discuss his visit to the Mongolian Steppes and the Gobi Desert in 2007. He will address today's efforts to restore the landscape after their degradation during the Soviet era. "The Ecology of the Eurasian Grasslands: A Case Study of the Mongolian Steppes" begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Miami University Museum of Art.

Host a Fulbright scholar
