G.I. Jobs magazine has named Miami University a 2013 Military Friendly School. The list recognizes the top 15 percent of national colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's military service members, veterans and spouses as students.
Homecoming 2012 includes a week of activities: a parade at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, starting in uptown Oxford on High Street; an unveiling of the newest and final statue - Paul Brown - on the Cradle of Coaches Plaza; and a noon kick-off Saturday as the RedHawks take on the University of Massachusetts at Yager Stadium.

The central section of Miami University's School of Engineering and Applied Science will be officially named Garland Hall, after former Miami President James C. Garland, in a dedication ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19.
A film screening and discussion of "The Invisible War," an investigative documentary about the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military, will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in 212 Macmillan Hall. The event, sponsored by the women's center, is a follow-up to the Summer Reading Program book Shade It Black.

Art Museum lecture
Stanley Toops, Miami University professor of geography and international studies, will discuss "Contemporary Geography of the Eurasian Grasslands" at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the Miami University Museum of Art. The lecture is part of a series of talks in conjunction with the museum's fall exhibition "Grass Routes: Pathways to Eurasian Cultures."
